What is Better Jobs Ontario?
A provincial program that helps laid-off and unemployed Ontarians retrain for in-demand jobs. It's a grant, not a loan — you don't pay it back. Funding is arranged through your local Employment Ontario office, not through the college.
Am I eligible?
Better Jobs Ontario is designed for people who have been laid off, are unemployed or underemployed, and want to train for a job that's in demand. Eligibility is assessed by an Employment Ontario case manager, so the best first step is to contact your nearest Employment Ontario office and ask for a Better Jobs Ontario assessment. We can point you to one if you're not sure where to start.
How much does it cover?
Up to $28,000 for tuition, books, transportation, basic living expenses and, where needed, child care or disability supports. The amount depends on your circumstances and is determined by Employment Ontario, not by the college.
Which Ontario Skills Institute programs qualify?
